We are beginning to raise funds to bring Nobody Inn back this year. The following article is from our crowdfunding campaign, launching this May.
A Modest Success…
Nobody Inn was first staged in August 2019 at the Arden Theatre in Faversham and opened to flattering reviews.
The show was put together with next to no budget. Props were sourced from the cast and crew, family and friends. The cast were volunteers, as were the crew. The writer/producer worked around the clock to make the show happen, to the point of building the set single handedly from borrowed materials. The show sold enough tickets to cover the theatre hire fees despite minimal marketing.
“A jolly rotten storm and unfortunate road accident have brought an unlikely group of people together for an unexpected stay at the Nobody Inn. The reluctant guests of this sub-standard hotel didn’t really need any additional reasons to grumble, however, the discovery of a dead body would just about put the cherry firmly atop the cake. A botched investigation prolongs the unwanted stay and the guests’ belief in coincidences is tested to the limits.”

What Next?
Now that we’ve proved we can put on a succesful show with no budget, we’d like to show what we can do with a budget behind us. The plan is to take steps towards London and beyond, tackling as many theatres as possible along the way.
Nobody Inn is only the start. We have plenty more ideas lined up and we think Nobody Inn could be the catalyst for those ideas to hit the stage too.
The Bigger Picture!
Here at Akkail, we believe theatre is a powerful thing and we are beyond passionate about it. Our managing directors have used the power of theatre to entertain, to bring people together, to teach and inspire, to raise thousands for charity, and more. Theatre can truely achieve magical things and we’d like to prove that.
We cannot emphasise enough that Nobody Inn is just the beginning. Success here will enable us to do so much more. We are already in talks to launch community projects to bring people together and beat loneliness and isolation. Ongoing workshops for young people are in the early stages of development. Ideas to bring the magic of theatre to those who can’t otherwise experience it were ideas that spurred us on to create this company. All we’re missing is the funding to get going.
We’d like to think that Akkail can be a platform for dreams to thrive where they are often crushed. For many creative people, finding work is tough. Finding someone to listen to your ideas and take them seriously seems unlikely and so too many good ideas are discarded without thought. Here at Akkail, we want to help build those ideas. We want to be the people that finally listen.

Corporate Sponsorship
Last year, although we put out a call for local businesses to support us, we ended up producing the play without sponsorship. Our programme was popular and a lot of our audience took one away as a souvenir. We’d love to advertise local supporters in our programme- in fact it would even be thematically appropriate. Any businesses interested in sponsoring the project, and indeed our future work, please get in touch at contact@akkail.com
